You all asked for it..here's a post that I had going as the house was being built.
Everytime we'd go down to see it, I'd take pictures and then do an update to this post.
Enjoy!
---
Since about January of 2012, we have been looking for a duplex to buy.
We wanted to live in one side and rent out the other.
But there wasn't a single duplex (good quality) anywhere to be found.
We were getting so tired of looking at so many expensive dumpholes.
And in the meantime, we were losing time fast,
because we were getting married in May and needed a place to live.
So while we were searching for a duplex to buy, we were also searching for an apartment to rent.
So May came around, and we had found a place to go while we continued looking for a house.
It was expensive though!
For a 1 bedroom basement apartment.
I wasn't the happiest wife after a while of living there (4 months).
So while we continued looking for a place,
we moved out of our expensive apartment and into Andy's parents basement around August.
Since we were not finding anything we loved in the duplex department, or in the Orem/Provo area,
we decided to change our vision!
We thought long and hard about being landlords,
and the more we thought about it, the more we hated the idea.
At least doing it right from the start of marriage. Yikes.
Living together for the first time is hard enough, let alone being in charge of other people too.
Maybe in the future we could be landlords, but for now, no thanks!
So we looked high and low for a house instead of a duplex.
We also thought more and more about living in the Provo/Orem area.
Now the crappy thing about Provo/Orem is, if you want to live in a nice area,
you have to fork out a crap load of money. No thanks.
So we broadened our horizon and figured if we lived as far as Spanish Fork it wouldn't be horrible.
Andy's married brothers and now his sister, all live there so it's not completely random.
Plus, it's CHEAP!
Which then leads me to where we are now!
After many months of searching for the perfect place, we found one in Spanish Fork.
It was about $50,000 cheaper for our brand new house than it was for an old dumpy house that only has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath.
We found ours for a great price, brand new, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and an unfinished basement!
The house is also pretty close to Highway 6,
so we can jump on that and head straight to the freeway to get to work.
We are beyond excited to be living here.
It's been a long awaited thing!
We both are in much need of leaving Provo for a bit.
We definitely want to thank all our amazing family for helping us out with everything.
Mike for helping us find a house. (and for being a close neighbor now!)
Grandpa & Reed for coming down to check out the quality of the construction of the house.
All those people, for helping us move into the house.
And everyone else for just supporting us!
THANK YOU!
Okay, enough of my rambling!

locked and the garage combo they gave us didn't work.
We looked in the windows in the back and saw that the carpet had been placed!
The vents weren't all put in yet.
Also, the front cement steps were poured, but covered.
(No pictures this round)
Estimated finish date is on wednesday! So excited!
Also, we bought our new washer/dryer today!!
Things are moving along so much!

Around 11:00am, they let us know that it is "DONE!"
We did a walk through at 5:15pm, things still look the same.
Basically done, just a few more things to finish.
February 27, 2013
They said we could close today, but the bank couldn't get a hold of the builders.
As of now, we are going to be closing on Friday.
We'll see!
Right now, there are a few things that need to be finished that aren't.
Hopefully they finish those things ASAP.
We are hoping to move in on Monday or Tuesday (March 4, or March 5).
March 5, 2013
WE CLOSE TODAY AT 4:30pm!
We'll be moving in all week, but the big move will be saturday!
March 6, 2013
We got the keys today, as well as the garage door openers!
We also changed the code to the garage to our own code.
Still planning the move on saturday!
March 9, 2013
Moving day!
---
Downsides:
The front yard won't be done until it warms up, hoping for April..
The spray painted Lot 77 is still visible on our house until they come back to do the yard..
We still have to paint our garage..
Upsides:
We have our own place!
We are super happy!
It's done!!
Thanks for reading through all of this! It's been a long process (apparently not very long compared to others), but we are so happy and excited!
And we seriously can't thank you all enough for
supporting us, helping us move, and being excited with us!
